The Wagner Society of New York hosted an
interview and luncheon
in honor of Judit Németh, mezzo-soprano, on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at the Liederkranz Foundation, 6 East 87th Street, New York, during Opera Week. Ms. Németh appeared in New York (her New York debut) with the Hungarian State Opera which was on tour with the Hungarian National Ballet in New York from Oct. 31-Nov. 10. She performed Queen Gertrud in Bánk Bán, the Hungarian national opera by Ferenc Erkel, on Oct. 30 and Nov. 3. Ms. Németh's appearance here was of special interest to the Wagner Society of New York as she has sung many leading Wagner roles, at the Bayreuth Festival from 2000-2007, and with the Hungarian State Opera and the Budapest Wagner Days and throughout Europe. She has been a member of the Hungarian State Opera since 1990. Scott Carlton, Artistic Director of the Wagner Society's Singer Programs, conducted the interview and translated from the German.
