Sherwin will concentrate on Bernstein’s many Wagnerian connections, including his now-legendary lectures (Harvard, 1973). In “The Delights and Dangers of Ambiguity” Bernstein explains and illustrates the transition from Berlioz to Wagner. We will hear excerpts from his recording of
Tristan und Isolde and other recordings. Sherwin has served as a classical recording engineer and producer, music critic, and writer for music magazines and WSNY publications.
